Abstract: Ron DeSantis has finally announced his presidential bid, despite a series of technical glitches along the way.

The Republican governor of Florida hasn't done much in the way of real estate. He does, of course, now get to live in the luxurious governor's mansion, and he has since sold his other homes.

With DeSantis making big waves in his political career, it's time to examine his real estate moves. From historic mansions in Florida's capital to more modest residences in other parts of the state, here's a look at where he's dropped his bags over the years.

DeSantis currently lives in the governor's mansion, an ornate Greek Revival-style building with a stately portico that was carefully designed to emulate the Nashville home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States.

Built in 1956 and designed by Palm Beach architect Marion Sims Wyeth (who also worked on Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club), the mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006, marking its 50th anniversary.

The governors who lived in this 30-room, 15,000-square-foot estate enjoyed many benefits, including a high hall, reception rooms (one with a grand piano), exercise rooms and a beautiful library.

Outside, there are lovely gardens, brick patios, koi ponds, conservatories, a swimming pool, cabanas and a fountain with a manatee sculpture.

Before Tallahassee took the helm, DeSantis lived in this modest three-bedroom, three-bathroom house in Ponte Vedra Beach, near Jacksonville. Compared to the mansion he currently enjoys, this house is quite small, measuring about 1,700 square feet. However, it still has a water view and a view of the nature reserve that is part of the Sawgrass Players Club.

The home features wooden floors, wide shutters, a two-car garage and a small swimming pool for cooling off in the Florida heat.

DeSantis purchased the property in 2009 for $307,000. He sold the home in 2019 for $460,000.

Prior to living in Ponte Vedra, DeSantis owned this three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence in Palm Coast, a little further south on the Atlantic Coast. Built in 1994, this lakefront property currently has a screened lanai, an updated kitchen, an open living area, new wood floors and fresh paint.

The home is part of the Lakeside at Matanzas gated community, which offers residents a nearby beach, two pools, a clubhouse, and tennis, shuffleboard and volleyball courts. DeSantis sold the home in June 2018 for $275,000.
