Abstract: A large house with a mile-long driveway in Newcastle, Oklahoma, is getting a lot of attention.

Thanks to its 80s and 90s decor, the home has attracted a lot of attention online and topped the list of most popular homes earlier this month.

The stark contrast between the exterior and interior design of the 24-year-old house has really made the property the subject of conversation.

"It's just a very different kind of house for Oklahoma," explains Wyatt Poindexter, listing agent for Keller Williams Real Estate Elite." It's kind of Mediterranean, modern, contemporary. It's just eclectic and a different style. Inside it's more of a modern and contemporary look, but outside there's more of a Mediterranean look and a Mediterranean roof."

The 16,841-square-foot home on five acres is listed for $3.9 million.

"It was built for two," Poindexter notes, "and the master bedroom is very large, larger than most people's single-storey homes." [The sellers] wanted the house to be entertaining with their family and everyone else."

Most of the spaces are open, with huge columns, a huge fireplace, a couple of wet bars and an interesting design style that you'll notice as soon as you walk through the custom front door.

"It has a cool, modern, '80s look - kind of like a Miami Vice look, but it's not," says Poindexter, adding that the house was built in 1999." When you walk in, it's really grand, it transcends you and you can see straight back as you walk by. It's really very, very open."

One bedroom is on the lowest level and the other two are at opposite ends of the house.

"The master bedroom actually has its own sitting room and then the bedroom that overlooks all the land to the east," says Poindexter." Then you go downstairs and there's a large bath, bathroom, a walk-in wardrobe and a small pool. It's a complete suite. It's huge."

The bathtub was heart-shaped, something Poindexter said he didn't want to know about.

"I didn't ask," he says with a smile.

The second bedroom on the other side of the house includes a living room, bathroom and kitchenette.

The rest of the interior contains a gym and many areas for entertaining. A covered patio at the back overlooks the distant grounds.

"It's definitely built for entertaining - [the owners] have had big parties there," notes Poindexter, who adds that he thinks the house would be great for athletes or celebrities because of its size and privacy - the driveway is a mile long." You can't see it from the road anywhere. It's super private. When you pull in the front door you can't even see the house down the road. You feel like you're entering just a large piece of land, not a house."

He says people have had a mixed reaction to the quirky design.

You don't see a lot of these contemporary, 80s glass block houses anymore, so some people categorise it as an 80s time capsule," he said.
