Abstract: Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo just sold his New York City flat. However, after waiting over a year for a buyer, he may not have got what he wanted.

In February, the three-bedroom flat was on the market for $4 million, and in April, Mutombo lowered the price a few times before finally selling for $3.495 million. But it finally sold for $3.2 million.

It was a major loss for the iconic basketball player, who bought the Upper West Side home in 2013 for $4.95 million.

Located on the 42nd floor, the nearly 1,900-square-foot condo features sleek lines and unparalleled views. Nearly every room has a view of the Hudson River and the city skyline.

And the dining room may have the most expansive view of all. It seems to span the entire length of the river, all the way to the George Washington Bridge.

Luxurious details abound - herringbone floors, huge windows with custom trim, a gorgeous restaurant-style kitchen with granite countertops and high-end appliances.

All three bathrooms are tiled in marble with hand-painted accents. The washer and dryer are tucked away down the hall.

The flats are located in the Trump Place building, which offers residents a host of amenities. These include white-glove door service, valet parking, a children's playroom, a health club with a pool, bike storage, a party room and garage access.

The former centre also put his 13,290-square-foot Atlanta mansion on the market for $6.8 million in May. No buyers have come forward yet, either.

Mutombo, 57, was an eight-time NBA All-Star, won four Defensive Player of the Year awards and is known for his trademark finger-wagging.

After his playing career, Mutombo devoted himself to humanitarian work in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and in 2022, he announced that he was being treated for a brain tumour. Since then, there have been no updates on his condition.
